Trade Compliance Analyst

Location: Bay Area, CA
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
Job Type: Direct Hire

Responsible for customs entry audits to ensure broker quality and accuracy in filing customs entries in accordance to Company procedures and requirements. Also responsible for compiling periodic payment data for valuation adjustments via reconciliation and communicating with global affiliates on necessary duty adjustments.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct audits on US customs entries for accuracy in valuation, classification, origin, and other compliance metrics
  • Develop transactional audit processes to assist with auditing customs entries in Asia
  • Assist in maintenance of documented policies and procedures
  • Support operational matters by providing oversight and resolution of technical compliance issues which impact the clearance or movement of goods. Administer broker procedures and monitor performance in accordance with KPI's
  • Maintain the US Reconciliation program to ensure entries are reconciled in accordance to the regulations
  • Assist with responding to post entry inquires such as requests for information and managing post entry administrative activity
  • Support First Sale validation reviews
  • Review design and development costs periodically to support customs value adjustments
  • Assist with targeted audits for free trade agreement eligibility or first sale
  • Support transactional audits in global markets included Europe, Asia and Latin America
  • Support preparation for customs audits as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, mathematics, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience in related field Minimum of five (5) years
  • Expert working knowledge of Excel; MS Access
  • Analytical skills, curiosity and problem solving come up with hypotheses, structuring and performing analyses, translating results into business conclusions, demonstrates creative thinking
  • Ability to work across various business functions e.g. Finance, Sourcing, Manufacturing Operations, Product Management, Supply Planning, etc. and with external parties
  • Sensitivity to, respect for, and ability to team well with individuals from different cultures; Strong working knowledge of foreign cultures, processes, and sensitivities
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; high emotional quotient; demonstrates maturity, professionalism, and poise at all times
  • Ability to work in a team environment to support others as needed
  • Self-motivated, has a sense of urgency, takes initiative
  • US Customs Brokers license a plus
