Trade Advisory Consultant

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Consultant is responsible for providing import and export compliance consulting to primarily Oil & Gas, Aerospace & Defense, and Hi-Tech industry clients. The Consultant works with practice employees to plan workload, prepare deliverables, and provide consulting services to clients.

LOCATION

Western Region (TX, CA, OR, WA preferred)

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches and responds to requests for complex information in a professional manner
  • Provide guidance and advice regarding interpretation of U.S. export related regulations including the Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations
  • Classifies client products on the Commerce Control List and United States Munitions List
  • Makes jurisdiction recommendations to clients regarding the Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic Regulations
  • Develops export compliance forms, tools, templates and performance reports
  • Able to support export compliance and operations assessments, audits and reviews
  • Assists the Senior Consultant/Director with auditing client databases, documentation, transactions, as well as policies and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of the Harmonized System of Classification, Free Trade Agreements and Customs Regulations
  • Performs HTSUS classification for goods in all industries

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • B.A. / B.S. required. CES/LCB preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience required.
  • Specific knowledge in the following areas of practice:
    • Export documentary requirements
    • Export classification (HTSUS/Schedule B, ECCN, USML)
    • Jurisdiction determination
    • Export licensing application and administration
    • End-use/end-user and sanctions screening requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. MS Access proficiency preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Legal research and writing experience preferred.
