High-level overview of the role....

This Logistics team member will lead global trade compliance for all YETI products in all markets. This role serves as the Customs compliance subject matter expert and provides support related to import /export activities and ensures YETIís compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices. This role will work closely with YETIís Vendors as well as YETIís Supply Chain and New Product Development teams. It will help build and maintain a robust compliance program. With an understanding of Customs, you will make sure that YETI is constantly at the forefront of changes to import/export tariff classifications and
rulings.

Deliverables

  • Establish and manage YETI Import and Export requirements including proper documentation control, documentation capture and archival and communication documentation to ensure 100% auditable compliance for the US, CA, AU, and other regions as necessary
  • Develop and manage KPI metrics with Customs Brokers
  • Serve as the primary interface for YETI with Customs organizations worldwide
  • Implement a global trade compliance program to drive compliance including conducting training when needed
  • Create financial models to help the company make strategic decisions to minimize duty risk when importing, exporting, and entering new markets
  • Be a resource for New Product Development on trade compliance issues and HTS classification
  • Interface with internal and external customers to ensure trade compliance
  • Capture all outbound and inbound products from and to our suppliers to determine any Duty Drawback opportunities and act on them accordingly
  • Establish Free Trade Zone processes and define proper government transactional requirements to support the program
  • Implement and manage the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update all policies and procedures related to Trade Compliance
    Review and approve Customs Broker invoices to ensure accurate application of fees
    Audit Customs entries to ensure accurate declaration of value, HTS classification and tariff treatment and communicate adjustments to Customs Broker
  • Organize and retain them according to defined record retention policy
  • Support International Trade programs through document review and communication with suppliers, Customs Broker, 3PLs, and government agencies
  • Support supply chain security initiatives such as Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
  • Maintain awareness of current and proposed Customs regulations related business activities, communicating out to partners as appropriate

Qualifications

  • A Bachelorís Degree is required
  • 5 years plus HTS Classification experience
  • Customs Brokerís License required
  • A proven track record in developing new processes and bringing about change and improvement without major disruption to the business
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP system Skill Set and Characteristics for Success
    Understanding of global trade compliance rules and regulations
  • Process driven, analytical skills, the ability to plan, be strategic and execute operationally on a regular basis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of global trade rules and regulations
  • Experience with durable goods at a retail company preferred
  • Able to quickly distill large amounts of information into concise summaries
  • Excellent ability to communicate with internal teams, service providers, and government agencies
  • Strong attention to detail and project management capabilities
  • Creative thinking skills, willingness to share opinion and challenge the status quo
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Goal oriented with high standards for excellence
  • High sense of urgency
  • Global mindset and ability to operate in different cultural environments
