Program Manager Global Logistics & Transportation


Location: Fremont, CA
Salary: $110,000 - $150,000
Job Type: Direct Hire

The GLO Transportation Program Manager works closely with local Transportation and Operations carriers to leverage existing agreements, assets and capabilities to continue strengthening our freight and extend our reach to our internal & external customers across the world. The position will also have access to the client’s global logistics team, ensuring that we continue to link our Origin capabilities with Destination needs to reduce transportation and shipping costs, improve on time performance and in full performance metric and delivery promise.

Transportation / Shipping:

  • Provide training and be the SME (subject matter expert) for international and domestic air shipping
  • Maximize opportunity for consolidation shipping
  • Organize and manage periodic process and performance review with forwarders or small pack carriers
  • Process improvement - Organize continue improvement plans with forwarders or small pack carriers

Operations Quality:

  • SOP review and update with the client’s carriers
  • Quarterly carrier score card support
  • Supply Chain Support and Coordination:
  • Escalation point for supply chain organization to resolve transportation issue
  • Manage expedited freight control with or without Transportation Management System

Problem Solving:

  • PS&DMP - Identify root causes, work with CFT (cross functional team) to drive sound and solid resolutions

Dangerous goods shipment support:

  • Executing support to the warehouses and carriers
  • Troubleshoot, re-booking and communicate to the impacted parties

RAM shipping support:

  • Support transportation for RAM (return shipment) shipping & receiving
  • Working with freight forwarder and small pack carrier to understand scope of work

Air Cargo Market Update:

  • Working with the carriers / airlines to understand market changes
  • Provide recommendation in alternative shipping/routing methods
  • Provide recommendation and solution to mitigate risks of not making shipment delivery need dates

Transportation Management System Support:

  • Support TMS Program Manager and control tower team to improve services
  • Monthly freight model review:
  • Evaluate freight execution models
  • Support to improve execution and price efficiency (are we sending freight the right way and pay the right price?)

Bi-Annual freight benchmark:

  • Support benchmark freight rates among primary and back up carriers
  • Compare market rates obtain from freight payment company


  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 8+ years working in global transportation / logistics fields
  • Global geography savvy
  • Freight forwarder experience preferred
  • Ability to form or work in a cross functional team
  • Experience in working with Transportation Management System
  • Experience working in / with supply chain organization
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors and co-workers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Experience with MS Office applications, savvy with Excel and Outlook
